About the Illustrator

Illustrator Lisa Wee was born and raised in Penang, Malaysia, the hometown of Dr. Wu Lien-teh. After first pursuing a career in nursing, she moved to Kenya to teach art. The opportunity to teach children from diverse backgrounds opened her eyes to the need for diversity and inclusion in children's books. Lisa is honored to illustrate Masked Hero, a story about someone who changed our world for the better.


Lisa is the recipient of the Bronze Award Japan Illustrator Association 2020 Award, Adelaide Books Children’s Literature and Illustration Award, 1st Annual Contest 2019: Shortlisted nominee winner, 2013 Nominated in Five Degree Invigorate banking illustration, 50th Anniversary Mary Poppins FanArt Walt Disney Exhibition.
